2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Recognized as Vehicle of the Year

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has been hailed as the Vehicle of the Year by Victory & Reseda, an online magazine. This award is just the latest in acclaim for the all-new model, which was launched in March 2021.

According to the CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Mark Chaffin, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has exceeded all expectations. New customers have come to appreciate this SUV, which is breaking sales records. This is the first time a Mitsubishi model has won this award in its 15-year history. The Outlander has also been named a Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS and included on the list of Ward’s 10 Best Interiors.

To win the Victory & Reseda award, the 2022 Outlander had to beat out some impressive competition, including the Kia Carnival, Ford F-150, Genesis GV70, and Toyota Camry. What is most exceptional is that the Outlander gained 83 percent of the online votes.

How the Award Works

The competition was based on all models written about in the online publication within the past 12 months. The vehicles competed in eight categories:

• Design
• Comfort
• Driveline
• Driving dynamics
• Safety
• Technology
• Efficiency
• Value

The maximum any model could receive in a category was five points with a total of 40 points that may be awarded. Along with this objective evaluation, two other subjective tests were considered. Independent automotive media influencers ranked the models while publication factors were also considered, such as engagement across social media.

Once the scores are added, the five top models move to the final vote, which is conducted online for one day. The vehicle with the most votes receives the title of Vehicle of the Year.
