Newgate School
Newgate School is located in Minneapolis and has established an amazing program, “Wheels for Women.” Newgate School focuses on training students to become automotive mechanics through mentorship and relies on vehicle donations from the public! By fixing these cars, students are given the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of various makes and models while gaining valuable experience that they can later turn into long-spanning careers. Newgate School has been a part of the Twin Cities community for more than four decades and helped to foster thousands of talented mechanics who seek to help the community. White Bear Mitsubishi is proud to partner with Newgate School!
Wheels for Women
It’s incredibly difficult to get anything done without a vehicle. Not every city is built with public transport in mind, and if you venture outside of the city, it’s almost impossible to get around. That’s why White Bear Mitsubishi is a proud sponsor of the “Wheels for Women” program, which seeks to provide single mothers with a vehicle of their own. Transportation is a daily necessity and can solve major problems such as:
- Education: Families need a reliable way to make it to school when bussing isn’t an option, especially when seeking secondary education.
- Errands: A vehicle makes it easy to travel to the grocery store. Trying to bring back multiple bags on the bus can be a hassle, especially when trying to feed your family.
- Job Security: Single mothers do a lot to provide for their children, but their ability to support them depends largely on their ability to hold a job. Having a reliable vehicle provides job security for families!
- Health: The last thing anyone wants to do when a child is sick is to hop on a crowded bus. Owning a reliable vehicle not only provides accessibility to health check-up’s, but also greatly improves the health of the family!
How Can You help?
You can make a tax-deductible donation to the Newgate School itself or donating a vehicle that you may no longer need! Newgate School’s goal is to giveaway at least three vehicles a month, with a larger goal of 36 vehicles throughout the year. With your help and donations, the program and school can expand their operations.
