12 Moms of Christmas | 2023

Christmas is the season of giving, which is why at White Bear Mitsubishi, we’re helping gift twelve cars to single mothers in need. We’ve helped to sponsor the 12 Moms of Christmas event for the last few years, and we’re proud to do it again for this Christmas season.

What is 12 Moms of Christmas?

Before we can dive into what 12 Moms of Christmas is, it’s important to talk about Wheels For Women, as this program helped spark the idea.

• The Newgate School: This school specializes in training young mechanics, as it regularly receives donated vehicles from the surrounding community, which they use to teach their students. Without the public’s help, they wouldn’t be able to offer such a wide range of classes, so in order to give back, they started Wheels For Women. Once students have finished repairing qualified cars, they’re given to single mothers in the area.
• A Better Holiday Season: The Wheels For Women initiative has led to an incredibly positive change in the community, and in order to keep that momentum going, we’ve partnered with the Newgate School. During Christmas, a total of twelve cars will be given away to single mothers across the area.
• Adding Our Own Twist: A car can make a massive difference in someone’s life, but these are single mothers. It wouldn’t make sense to leave the kids out of the gift-giving experience, which is why when these mothers open the trunks of these new vehicles, they’ll find that it’s loaded with presents.

What a New Car Can Do for a Family

Once you have a car, you might forget about how hard life was without one. With a new car, these families should have an easier time:

• Getting Groceries: If you have to walk to and from the grocery store, you’re only going to be able to carry so much with you. This can make it hard to grab heavier items like stock or water. With a trunk though, these single mothers will have an easier time providing for their family.
• Getting to Work: When you have a job, you’re expected to be at work for a certain time. With a car, these mothers should have an easier time getting to and from work as they won’t have to rely on public transportation.
• Getting The Kids to School: The bus always leaves the school at the same time, which doesn’t leave room for extracurriculars. A car gives parents a way to pick their kids up later, which lets them enjoy football, softball, or whatever else they’re interested in.

The Importance of Community

There’s nothing more important than community. If you’re near Minneapolis, White Bear Lake, or Maple Grove, and you want to do your part to pitch in, you can:

• Donate to Newgate School: If mechanics are going to learn anything, they’re going to need a vehicle to work on. If you want to support the efforts at Newgate School, you can consider donating to them online.
• Donate to 12 Moms of Christmas: Alternatively, you can support the 12 Moms of Christmas initiative by donating to our GoFundMe. These funds will go towards winter gear, presents, and more.
